...it's like saying if the Enterprise [ name your carrier ] was lost at Pearl, the US would've lost

Actually, the Argies motivated, but mostly untrained proved what they could do to the trained, motivated RN.

    Cherry picking gets you nowhere...
    From page 127
Next paragraph same page. They, the A-4s, were briefed not to engaged.
So...No radar, no missiles, and most importantly - no GCI or AEW.
And you seem incredulous that the Argie pilots did not engage much in air-to-air. Also, IIRC, the A-4s were at the outer limit of their range.

Well, the next paragraph on 215
It also helps when your missiles work as advertised.

Further, there were only 2 gun kills + a crippled Argie finished off with guns.

Without the AIM-9L the Harriers would have had a much harder time of it. Now suppose, they were using older AIM-9s with hit percentages of those in Vietnam.

    Finish the quote...
    .
That is real realism for you.

Your experience? Now you are going to tell me your a pilot that Flew in the Falklands?

Or you could just read Chapter 1 "PREPARING TO MEET THE UNFORSEEN" to see the differences in training. Not just between the British & Argentinian pilots, but also between Argentinian naval & air force pilots as well.

You have the book, so I know you can read it. However, you are cherry picking, so you probably won't.

Seems to have made it into several books that don't make headlines.

Sounds like Bronk is P/Od because he thought he "got" me on that. Otherwise he would not have quoted it 3 times.

Some interesting additions to the conversations:

Marked “Secret – UK Eyes Bravo”, the full, uncensored report shows:

    • Some members of the crew were “bored and a little frustrated by inactivity” and the ship was “not fully prepared” for an attack.
    • The anti-air warfare officer had left the ship’s operations room and was having a coffee in the wardroom when the Argentinian navy launched the attack, while his assistant had left “to visit the heads” (relieve himself).
    • The radar on board the ship that could have detected incoming Super Étendard fighter aircraft had been blanked out by a transmission being made to another vessel.
    • When a nearby ship, HMS Glasgow, did spot the approaching aircraft, the principal warfare officer in the Sheffield’s ops room failed to react, “partly through inexperience, but more importantly from inadequacy”.
    • The anti-air warfare officer was recalled to the ops room, but did not believe the Sheffield was within range of Argentina’s Super Étendard aircraft that carried the missiles.
    • When the incoming missiles came into view, officers on the bridge were “mesmerised” by the sight and did not broadcast a warning to the ship’s company. - Bold mine.
    Some good footage:

Thanks, I intend to. Would like to see the guts, as there are plenty of summaries, some more detailed than others.

Glad to see the they are also putting some into cyber security, very important nowadays, but sometimes neglected.

Yeah, I believe that will be the next battlefield.

Glad to see the acquisition of the LRASM...I just hope it will be enough against the Chinese carriers.

Sweet...maybe you can tell ME what’s in it... : )

An interesting if brief rundown...I liked the energy weapons and autonomous vehicles...but I would.

It's not as detailed as I would have liked. So far energy weapons are only briefly talked about, mostly it will be for their R & D. The autonomous weapons systems are being looked at for all services, which should be interesting.

Mostly, I am surprised by the heavy investment in self propelled artillery & rockets.

    Still much to go through.

Yeah the SPS are loooong overdue...the MLRS systems again should have been a part of the arsenal years ago.
