Why I used the term in theory. In truth it would be a positive thing if done for both Israel and Lebanon though I have my doubts about the current government.

If done under the auspices of the UN, probably more credible and doable.

Unfortunately, the Lebanese railway system was destroyed during the Civil War, an never rebuilt. So, there is not even the possibility of using rail traffic to provide sustinance to Beirut.

    ha. 2700 lbs nitrate.
kansas/china port was devastated, with a fraction of 2700.
    buildings were devastated.
a lot of broken glass in Beirut.
    didnt see much infrastructure damage.
nothing like the actual recent war with Israel.
look at the grain storage after blast...can see all the grain.
this was not 2700 pounds of nitrate, and lol fireworks.
    prove me wrong.

is it too political to speculate on who will rebuild the port?

Poppy...Lay off Opana's meds...They are not for you.

    Prove you wrong...Fine.

Is a number you made up..
    it is tons...not pounds.

Kansas? West, Texas was about 250+ tons, and the second blast in Tianjin was estimated at 800+ tons.

West, Texas, was a small community, and the explosion occurred at it's edge. The community was effected, but hardly devastated. Tianjin was a bigger blast, but was essentially a warehouse compound, with residences around the perimeter.

As in both blasts, most of the deaths were fire fighters, not civilians.

As to the 2,700 ton blast, it looks like it devastated much of the port area.

Course not. That was all done during the Civil War. Lebanon is probably the only country without a working railroad.
The power grid was already a mess, as was the water supply.

    Photos please.

Of course it was not 2700 pounds of nitrate...It was 2700 tons.

    Proven wrong.

You have too be able to pay, before you rebuild.

More interesting to speculate on who will loan Lebanon the billions it will need.

We should...Considering we spend more on the military than the next 10 countries combined.

I do agree it is silly

    What a waste if taxpayer money...Back in the old days, you just spent what you needed to defend against #2. Now it's 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.
