Putin is not a Young man and I have no knowledge who would be the strong man toTake his place without a civil war kinda thing. Military could try like in 1991 to take power. As soon as Putin shows any weakness the game starts.
Yesterday morning just fresh out of bed I stood at the kitchen window pouring a cup of coffee and looking out across the lake to the West what to my astonished eyes do I see ? A lumbering unmistakable aircraft approaching at a snails pace at what appeared to be 2,000 feet altitude. We don't get too many low flying cargo planes, like none whatsoever, so watching that big beautiful C-17 fly directly over was the start of a good day.
I get to see them semi regularly here in Darwin...usually driving home...they are big aren’t they...you don’t mistake them for civilian aircraft the moment you spot it. As an aside we have the Singapore Airforce here at the moment...I can hear their engines from where I work...kms away!
I'm seven miles from Lambert Field in St. Louis. (Don't know what that is in centigrade.) When the '-17s are getting froggy we can here them here quite plainly. But not quiet planely.
We flew out of St. Louis years ago and I almost missed my flight watching the F-15's taking off ! There's just something mesmerizing about Military propulsion engines
I watched this a couple of nights ago...thought others might find it interesting...She knows her stuff.

WARSAW, Poland — The Polish government says that Russian President Vladimir Putin is manipulating World War II-era history in a way that whitewashes Soviet crimes and accuses him of doing it as part of an “information war” against the West. The statement Friday from the government in Warsaw came a day after Putin, in a lengthy article in a U.S. journal, insisted on recognizing the Soviet Union as the prime defeater of Nazi Germany and suggested that Poland — a nation that was carved up by the German and Soviet forces and which lost 6 million citizens — bears some blame for the start of World War II. The Soviet Union signed a nonaggression pact with Nazi Germany shortly before the war began in 1939, known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. It contained a secret protocol in which the totalitarian powers agreed to carve up Poland and the Baltic states.( and Finland....). In his article, Putin reiterated his contention that the Soviet Union was forced into signing the non-aggression agreement with Germany after Western powers and Poland cold-shouldered creating a military alliance. “The Soviet Union did its utmost to use every chance of creating an anti-Hitler coalition. Despite — I will say it again — the double dealing on the part of the Western countries,” he wrote. ---------------- Yeah right. Now back to invading and killing other nation´s people.Remember to bring skis next time.
Back in 1998 when I was a doctor for the Finnish troops for Macedonia ( 1997-1998 Bosnia, 1/98-4/98 Macedonia ) I was ordered to escort a UN finance person due to a heart attack to Washington. 1st class I did not complain. I had to leave the next day back but I visited the National Mall and then returned to the Dulles airport. ( the first time I heard it as Dallas airport Anyway, there were several Vietnam vets and a I had Finnish major rose on my shoulders they thought I was one star General. The salutes I received....It was so good I felt bad to tell the truth. I never did though. The vets were happy to see me and I did not want to spoil the occasion.

In the late 1990´s the Finnish Army decided to make stealth hovercraft which could carry missiles in every kind of weather. However, the army tactics changed as the hovercraft got ready 2002, and it cost some 10 million euros to make. The army tried to sell it but nobody bought it so it was scrapped in 2014.
