Did that end up with them fighting another German tank and Saunders destroying it by throwing a grenade into it? Funny the stuff that sticks in your mind.....
..looks like that's what happened. ...yes, for some reason, I remember the movie The Train with Burt Lancaster....I saw it over 40 years ago--but the only scene I remember is when they painted the train..for some reason, I remember that scene --only that scene, from a long time ago
..yes--that was why they did it....at first, Burt didn't want to waste time or lives on the art/paintings.....then he really messed up the nazi's plans...great train scenes/actions in the movie
The British bombers were aimed at destroying German cities By Sir Harris. He did not want to even help the Overlord troops if I recall correctly. Man with a mission.
Liked the episode Hill 256 in season one...this taut courtroom drama pits the gold-brick Kirby against war hero Sergeant Metcalf. It's a foregone conclusion who the court will believe when stalwart Metcalf accuses Kirby of cowardice -- until Saunders intervenes with some hard earned evidence. This is a great story, made more interesting by a lack of villains.
I think I remember an one-off episode called ASSAULT!!(shown in the summer of 1966 if memory serves me (I'm 70). It was about a Marine squad fighting in the PTO. The last scene showed the squad screw-up falling on a Japanese grenade saving their lives. Does anyone remember this?
