Jonny Ramensky pre war was a notorious Scots safe cracker and also a prison escaper. During the war he was a highly successful saboteur and safe cracker operating behind enemy lines in Italy. He was awarded the Military Medal. After the war he reverted to his criminal activities. Eddie Chapman pre war was a notorious bank robber and safe cracker. During the war he was Agent Zig Zag - a double agent who fed the Germans with misleading information on the Normandy invasion and the V weapon targeting. After the war he went back to crime.
How many other criminals were employed in war time activities utilising their illegal talents? Was this successful?

Sorry. I would ask how many hundreds instead. Their skills were needed and after the war they and innocent soldiers were left on their own.
For instance many Finnish soldiers got amphetamine to fight the war. When the war ended they never got any help from the government to ease the situation. They were not helped and I do not believe things were any different elsewhere.
So no financial help-what would they do?
