Just as the digital era has made records and now even CDs obsolete...How long before you can just 3D print what ever aircraft or ship you want? Accurate perfectly in scale as its taken from the real thing? The paint job again becomes the make or break skill. Hopefully when the software is made, you can not only 3d print a B-17 at home...but even put in some of your own design into the aircraft on screen and then print it out! The sky will be the limit.

You should check out shapeways they have all kinds of 3d printed models stuff is getting better early stuff looked kinda rough but lots looking smoother. Also stuff telling you how to do your own 3d printing. They had some stuff I was interested in but real model companies have been coming out with similar items. Just need to get some.

The B17 is one of my favorites as well but the crown/ revell and minicraft kits just didn't look right, the new ftoys and cafereo kits look great but I'm not exactly happy with the ftoys snap together the wings don't really snap in tight the cafereo sets in deep in the body but it is a G and the ftoy is a F. Thinking of casting them then kit bash the two together and make a better looking F and maybe do a gun ship just because it looks bad ass. Just looks kewl with all those twin 50s maybe do the good ole 666. Well if it's really bad off maybe a diorama, crash landing back at base. Maybe do the B17 that came back ghost ship. Anyway Anyway the British swear the thing came in for a controlled forced landing. Lots of strange conflicting reports.

I saw a thing on YouTube were some company had a giant 3d printer that makes kit houses. The thing makes the different wall panels that you bolt screw together and build this survival house along with shutters for the windows. I thought that would be great to 3d print the hulls for my 144 scale ships, right now my plan is to carve a wooden hull then coat with release and do a fiber glass cast or whatever and make my hull want to start with a light carrier just not sure what class yet, if all goes well I'll do an Essex next.
