Sidearm holsters issued to airmen??

.Looking for my father's holster (if it still exists) from WWII, he was a radio operator (TSGT F.E. Miller)....always said he traded cigarettes for carving from a native on Saipan or Tinian...It would help if I knew what holsters Radio Operators were issued...thanks...

 

What holster he would have been issued would depend on what type pistol he was issued. US pilots and aircrewmen were usually issued the Smith & Wesson .38/44 or Colt type M1911 pistol. See here for some examples Holsters

My bet would be if he were operating out of Saipan or Tinian he was probably issued the SW .38 as that would have been pretty late in the game.

 

Radio Operator, AAF MOS is ground crew. Did you mean Radio Operator-Mechanic-Gunner? Need to check his discharge or other official record.
