I would like to help proof read smaller documents. I have some health issues that might prevent me from doing a longer document at all, but maybe smaller portions of larger documents. I also have severe dyslexia and require a spell checker to be of much help. Sincerely, Stewart.
What would proofreading entail in this context? Giving the OCR program's output a once-over to fix any errors in it? I could help with proofreading or HTML work if this is still ongoing. (Sorry for bumping a dead thread if it isn't.)
I've retired, so Otto is the man to speak about what's needed. I'll be goofing off under a palm tree if you need me.
Otto, please let me know if I could be of assistance on this project. Great archive of material you made available to so many, OpanaPointer. Rest under a palm tree well deserved!
Just joined but used Hyperwar documents significantly in a recent MA so willing to help. Haven't worked with HTML for nearly 20 years so I'd stick with proofing to start with
I have just finished converting the NSA Bomb Docs from pdf to html. I'm not arrogant enough to think I did a perfect job, so I'm looking for people who would read the docs, make any corrections based on the pdfs, and use red text to mark those changes. There are 83 docx files, none over 50 pages, most much less. If the topic interest you and you have some free time (we are under no deadline) then I will send you a link to a zip file, size 963 k. Other routings can be discussed. The Bomb docs are sometimes agonizing for professional historian to read, leave alone a sophomore trying to get some citations for a paper. This should help with that. TIA
