Hi All, I've been reading my father-in-law's ww2 diary. He spent almost all of his ww2 time in the British Royal Signals in India and then Ceylon, and then finally a short stint in the Occupation of Germany before being demobbed in 1946. Although there is a lot of lists giving the answers to acronyms, there is one which bugs me - "went to USOW show at the Phoenix (cinema/theatre in Kandy 1944, Ceylon), great show, Louis Mountbatten was there". Kandy was Louis Mountbatten's headquarters during 1944. Question, what does 'USOW' mean? I'd be very grateful. Many thanks, Johnb
USO/United Service Organization. I do not know what the W stands for. They bring entertainment and comfort to front line troops. Bob Hope was famous for his many shows done in many wars and theaters.
