I'm seeing WW2... Korean US soldiers look like... I'm sure there are many Americans who can quickly tell you the difference...The two main differences for me is the building behind the soldiers looks more Europe than Korea and the quality of film is older in the main picture. .
They are probably a tank crew on the ground. The googles were used by anyone sticking their head out of the tank, if available. Agree with CAC on the background.
I also agree, that the picture was taken in Europe. However, the difference in the pictures is probably due to the difference in the quality of the cameras. The crinkle cut in the OP suggests that the pix was probably commercially processed back in the states. That cut was popular back in the 40s and 50s.
It looks to me that the soldiers in the top photo could be wearing double-buckle boots, common in WWII, specifically the one on the left.
That's definitely a ww2 era mess kit , although they were used for over 30 years. My guess is the fence appears more like what you'd see in WW2 Europe.
