Just realized something. The day I was born is closer to the 1890's than the 2020's.

Some days I feel every one of those.
Other days I feel like I'm still 18 and could go all night.
But then I can't remember what I'd be staying up for.
    Memories.

The high school class ahead of me just had their 50th Reunion. I literally did not recognize any of them. Just a bunch of old people.

0_spider.jpg My nephew spent three weeks visiting us went back on Sunday with his wife Smitha we had a big family reunion and baby shower for them it was crazy. We had lots of great food and family and friends. We hope they have a good delivery as the has a prior miscarriage. We laughed about the huntsman spiders Jeff said he uses a hand vac on the small ones and Smitha handles the bigger ones, lol. They had some expert trying to show how to catch one if the big ones missed and ended up telling as the thing jumped on him. The news people laughed saying he's an expert questionly. They showed one dragging a dead mouse twice it's size don't know if it got the mouse or stole it from a deadlier spider. They say the huntsman preys on other spiders including the poisonist variety. The news was saying the will keep a house free of poisonist insects as well as other varmits. However they are huge and creepy. And they say all the big things are in Africa. Austrailia has big deadly birds, Crocs, the biggest rodents and lots of other things. Much of it is still undeveloped and not extensively explored but with drone tech getting more and more used they will have it more will known soon just like the tundras, the Egyptian desert, the jungles of south America. Strange when I was a kid I remember being taught that from the border of Venezuela to the us border was central America but this program said from Mexico to the cape is all south America there is no distinction of central. Gets confusing when your taught one thing. Like my nephew jarrode was saying he watched a program saying the Russians had the best tanks in WWII but he remember in school the said it was the Germans. I told him history seems to reflect what we dealt with in the USA and tends to ignore the rest of the world and also we always down played the Russians since the end of the war.

Huntsman are good luck in your house…especially a big boy like that…You seriously just take one look and look away and forget them…they don’t want you near them either. In Darwin we have geckos in our houses too…they make short work of a huntsman…Both keep insects to a minimum, both have territories in the house worth protecting against other spiders and geckos…Just don’t freak out and they won’t either…

I remember a Navy shipmate telling us that he had been stationed in Japan, and they have a big hairy spider called something like mushitomo that crawls around the walls like this one. It creeps some people out, but if you have the spider, you don't have other bugs.

I'm going to ask my nephew if the have any hobby shows in melborne and see if he can pickup some Ozmod kits for me the f9f loo panther and cougar. Wrote them asking if the had plans for a boomerang and wirraway boy the said no. Too bad back to my t6 conversion. We have two great hobby shows here in California. Hopefully my retirement will get processed thru and I'll get some funds for one of the shows and bring my nephew's and get some cheap starter kits. Wanna find some old hawk rubberband cars.

I made a Boomerang, still have it I think…My Dad got me a limited edition Wirraway from a small company in Australia that stopped production…it had a lot of flaring, and a difficult build…but I think I made a good model in the end…Then my Dingo ate it…Oh well.

    So now you know...

Hong Kong: New school books claim territory was not a British colony

New textbooks for Hong Kong schools will state the territory was never a British colony, local media report.

Instead, the books declare the British "only exercised colonial rule" in Hong Kong - a distinction drawn to highlight China's claims of unbroken sovereignty.

Seems a rather moot point as Hong Kong had its own monetary system people escaping would go to hong Kong. They can say whatever they like but the rest of the world knows they had had to submitte to superior British power. The say the dynasty supplied the boxiers to try and break the combinied embassies and push the west out of china but the fortress would not fall and reinforcements fought their way thru a sad history for the Chinese who were exploited by the west for decades. Now there getting back and our governments have let them become the economical power they are now. Increase the tariffs and raise the taxes on the companies importing these goods and bring back most of our industry.

I found on some classic movie sîte a movie about Anette Kellerman a famous Australian swimmer and labeled the mother of synchronized swimming. At an early age I believe she was striken with polio and told she would never be able to do the normal things people do like walk or dance. Now the movie says she would sneak to the beach take off her breaces taught herself to swim. Her bio says her parents registered her in a swimming academy thinking it would help. By 13 she was walking as normal as any other person and by 15 won her first competetion. She would swim wearing a man's tank top one piece considered indecent at the time and would create a line of swimwear. She stared in a number or filmed and was one of the first to be filmed fully nude. Unfortunately her pictures were filmed on the old nitrate stock that becomes brittal and unstable also prone to burning up only a few of her pictures are know to have survived in private collections. Too bad film conservation wasn't thought of back then. She was an amazing person one of the first women to swim the english channel she had three failed attempts before finally making it. She became a vaudvill sensation and made a successful carree demonstrating her swimming talents. I do think it was funny how women were shocked at her bathing suit basically a man's tank top one piece those women would probably faint at a string bikini. Any way it shows that loo people with a strong will can over come great obsticales. She was from new south Wales.
