    I think he is rather small to be handling the weapon and is stretching to get his hand on the foregrip?

    Maybe posing for a a photo before he was trained on its use?

    Well, in my first two years at that obscure military college outside Lexington VA, we were issued and trained with M-1s (then switched to M-14's). Never, ever put the forehand that far out, forward of the slide but behind the barrel band was the approved method.

    Just a WAG but wonder if it's a training photo ? Rifle is parallel with the stick behind his left leg. As for the grip? Photographer's take creative license :D
