Hi there. I'm Cindy (or "mags" as most call me, online). I'm pretty much obsessed with life during WWII. Not just battles and whatnot, but what the masses felt, heard, smelled, saw, ate, wore, read and so on. You don't often see these subjects. I mean, you might find a small article on rationing or styles of the day, but what was daily life like for the various people of various nations. Those are my interests and I've learned so much! Thanks for allowing me to be part of this community. I'm sure I will learn so much more!
Welcome Mags, Opanapointer may have just been being modest (well maybe Sir) but give this site a whirl ; Google "HyperWar and scroll down the list of topics. There is a specific area for the Home Front with several sub topics. There are years of reading available on HyperWar. Mr. Jewell did good.
Welcome Magnolia, It is good to have you here. Which Southern state are you in? I am assuming Mississippi.
A good book that gives a snapshot of life in England as the American soldiers showed up. A fascinating read.
Lou's post reminded me that a Brit Friend send me this. Great reading about the "invasion" of the U.S. G.I during Ww2. Sure miss Urgh ! Hope he is well.
Please pass along a Good Day from me. Still have the books he sent and Honored to have his RAF insignia badge ! Maybe he can be enticed to come back ? Just one more time !!? Please!
