    Hi,

I know this is rather obscure but I am trying to verify the ground pressure of the M10 tank destroyer. I just checked a PDF I have of the manual (TM 9-752) which actually does give very useful data:

    Estimated loaded weight: 66k lbs
Ground contact area: 3346 sq in

Which would give a figure I calculate of 19.72 psi.

Oddly though before I looked at the PDF, I tried doing some online searches, and this website gives a value for "ground pressure, zero penetration" of just 13.4 psi. 3" GMC M10

I can't quite fathom how they arrived at this value. Even if the track had duckbills, surely that wouldn't increase the contact area by that much?

Information from the Canadian Army Vehicle Data Book. Note that in the Addition Date of the 17 Pdr M-10, it says “ground pressure runs higher than shown”
