History on this hat emblem

    Hi, this picture is from my grandad but I don’t know what emblem he has on his hat. He was Norwegian and then moved to the USA and passed away in 1968.

    Can anyone state the military emblem on his hat please?

    He was a sailor of some sort, yes? Military or merchant marine?

    Yes, I’m guessing us navy as I have no background info apart from birth and death places with siblings info
