WW2 Era Voices of Victory “Living Letter” Audio Recording

    This is a WW2 era audio recorded message made by a Serviceman. During WW2, service members could have these made and sent to family. They would typically include a brief hello, checking up on Family, sometimes they’d even sing a tune.

    This has been digitized by myself. I recorded it straight from a record player and then cleaned up the audio as much as possible as there was a good amount of background noise. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

    Very nice. I wasn't aware that these existed. It was kind of surreal hearing, rather than just reading. Thanks.

    National Archives are working oral histories from WWII vets, the ones that are left. You might see if they'd like a copy of your gem.
