Are digger hats killed before being donned? Or do they die horribly up there?

They last pretty well under most conditions...Like all hats like this (i use an Acubra) it depends on how well you look after it when not wearing it...And how much one sweats in it. You get one issue and have to pay for any new ones...And they aren't cheap.
FYI: With one side turned up, a slouch hat can be correctly called a "unicorn".

I have a pith helmet and fatigue cap, both from the Vietnam Army Navy. Original stock. I replied with a St. Louis Cardinals' hat and a CPO hat.

    Hang on.

You should see the vets when I wear the fatigue cap to the VA, "correct" flag and all. . The twitches start quickly.

That’s funny…something I’d think of doing but would lack the kahounas to do it…

Had these since a few months after the quid pro quo trip back in the '80s. We got two trips for helping a PAVN Captain find his father's resting place. Me and him got very drunk together and agreed all wars are a waste of time. His wife looked doubtful.

The "suspension"? is broken on the pith. I'm unsure how to fix it. If you hear loud screams in the distance it's me.

The son thought I liked hats since I wore a collie hat one time when I was a bit tipsy. Whatever, I liked 'em. We still correspond on specific dates. He always remembers to write and thank me. He really loved his Dad.

That's ten less minutes in Purgatory for me.

A great introductory post from lodestar that generated a sprawling thread in response.

Cheers to @lodestar, may he continue his Divine and Sentient posting...:s!:
