Yep. I haven't been much of a movie goer. It was on TCM Memorial Day weekend, and I used my DVR to record it. From my perspective, a pretty good film.
As a kid, my father was always watching old WW2 movies on TV and I caught many of the late 40s early 50s movies. Every once in a while, the spirit strikes me to watch one. I think I'm going to look for Guadalcanal Diary. I read the book a long time ago, and I did see the film many years ago, so it might be worth another look. Same for Tarawa Beachhead.

I also have the new Gettysburg show from last week to watch.

I watched it last weekend. I enjoyed it too! Excellent cast of actors as well!

Give me a break. It's only a week old. I also think I know how it comes out. Did you think it was well done?

I thought that you were talking about the movie "Gettysburg" that was based on the book The Killer Angels that came out in the mid-90s! You did say that you weren't much of a movie goer, remember....

I haven't watched it yet, so I have no comment on the production as we speak.

Thanks. I did manage to watch the Gettysburg movie you mentioned when it was on TV a couple of years ago. I don't remember being too impressed, although when I visited Gettysburg and stood on the Union lines where Pickett's Charge occurred, it gave me chills. I also went around to Pickett's position to see what they saw. I told my wife I would have run...the other way.

It's been since 1977 that I've visited Gettysburg, so I don't remember that much. I'll go through it again before too long now that I know so much more about what went on there now as opposed to my first visit. I'll call you and perhaps you can make it out there again.

I went for my first trip in 1963 when I was 16. I don't remember much about that trip. I've been there twice in the last ten years or so. I hope to get out there again this summer. If you find your way up here, I would be pleased to take the trip with you. If not, I'll take some pics and either post them or send them to you.

I'll come up there. Seen a bazillion pictures already. Gotta see and walk what I've been reading about all these years. Thanks a bunch for the offer though.

Just finished watching all 10 seasons of J*A*G on dvd. Realized I missed a couple from season 10 which seems odd considering re-runs, but then I don't recall many 10th season re-runs. Think I will start on Star Trek, the Original Series next as a change of pace.

I went to see "Super 8" at the movies the other night with my cousin. I was surprised, the movie was pretty good and well worth a look.

Watched "Play Dirty" again this w.e. Love the opening scene with Marlene Dietrich singing "Lili Marleen" as Leech drives back through the line. Michael Caine is good but Captain Leech steals the movie.

Saw Super 8 myself yesterday. As I spent the mid 70's living in western PA and eastern Ohio, it felt like walking through my childhood. Without the alien of course, but then there was a vice principle I'm am not so sure about:) If you stay put in your seat for the first 30-45 seconds of the credits you will get a chance to see the completed 'Super 8' movie in all its awfull brilliance. I have to give Abrams credit he got great preformances for the real movie out of his child actors, and believably bad ones for their movie. Not as good as his Star Trek reboot, but worth a look if you enjoy Sci-fi conspiricy themes. I just wish he would leave out the lens flares that he loves, they were distracting here.

Missions That Changed the War: The Flying (AVG) Tigers, David "Tex" Hill's interviews are fantastic.

I saw "Se7en" the other night, with Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt. It was better than I thought it would be.
