What have you been watching?

In hospital, watching overnight tv...Thank God for the BBC. Caught back to back The History File, Nazi Germany last night....An education resource series for teachers I think. Rivetting on Germany before ww2. Drama mentory historical sort of program.
Episode 4 was about and narrated and started Henry Metelman. His story as a Hitler youth. Exceptional tv.

 

Bought..Hitler's Eastern Front DVD from the pound shop today containing three one hour documentary's on the three army groups. Just watched North and now watching Centre, fair bit of footage I have never seen.

Just bought WWII in color from the History Channel. Been watching it for days even though i saw most of it on tv. Good program. I learned alot. Watched Saving Private Ryan and Pan's Laberynth

 

"Pan's Labyrinth"...man, what a mind-job they pull there at the end! Good movie!

Recently found "Gettysburg" at Target for $5...I'm about an hour into it right now (its a 4 hour 15 minute epic), hard to find time to just kick back and watch.

 

Gettysburt...Epic..dont know how real but epic movie.

 

Just finished Star Trek: TOS season 3. Genneraly reguarded as the weakest of the original series. Still a few good episodes there. Remarkable to think that Roddenberry was a pilot in the Pacific, Doohan (Scotty) landed at Juno beach and Takai (Sulu) was in a Arkansas Internment camp.

 

It followed the book pretty close. I read it once in college and again before going to see the movie. For the most part the movie followed historical fact, but there were a few instances of "creative license" taken by the director. For one, the bit about General Pickett being pumped up about going in (Pickett's Charge) was a bit of theatrics, as was the part in the story of British Colonel Freemantle observing the battle in his dress (red) uniform. Pickett opposed the attack as planned, and forever held General Lee in contempt for "destroying my division" and Col. Freemantle observed the proceedings in civvies (all that red would attract minie` balls you know).

So urqh, how was the movie received in England anyway?

 

Sad to admit watch too much tv...Was spell bound by the hags of New Jersey Housewives . Transfixed by the shallow, immoral, petty, low brow pomposity. Everyone knows people like that. Isn't RHONJ/NY/LA etc a snapshot of what's wrong with the western empire?... It's like watching a car accident.

 

As long as we have quality TV like Jersey Shore and Kate+8 we will muddle though.

 

You should be ashamed of yourself watching that drivel and admitting to it.

 

Caught a couple of hours of a National Geo documentary on Hitler's rise to power last night. All the B&W footage had been colorized (even the WWI films). Hitler was first seen on film after the war at a predecessor's( to the NAZI party) rally as a spy for the German military. Apparently, he must of liked what he heard.

What was chilling was the words of Gobbels in broadcasts threatening the Jewish population. He predicted Jewish blood would flow to atone for the Jews destroying the economy and Teutonic culture.

Put a turban on him and he could be a Bagdad Bob for Iran!

 

Due to my new exhalted status you will come to attention when you say that! No I have not seen either thank god, allah, and vishnu. I have just finished watching Life , both seasons, with Damien Lewis ( Dick Winters of Band of Brothers) which I am niether ashamed to watching or admitting to. A great show that should have lasted longer, but did not fit into the Hollywood cookie-cutter programing.
