You are OK Smiley, I'm binge watching "Dexter". Made it to season 7, though I hear the 8th and final season was disappointing.
I saw "Unbroken" not too long ago. Great movie. The book had much more information, but that goes without saying. Yesterday I watched "Hot Tub TIme Machine 2". It was ok. You had to see the first one to know what was going on with this one.
Right now I am watching House of Cards on Netflix. Last week watched Fury again. Still find the ending too much to stomach
I found "Hitler's Children" fascinating, interviews with descendants of some of the top nazi brass. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler%27s_Children_%282011_film%29
Fury was good but I managed to spoil the evening with USS Seaviper... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1274596/
Come And See, this one was heralded as a kind of "cult" movie, must say it is very strange and I could not really get into it. Anyone saw it and can tell me what I am missing (except the brutality of WW2 is shown of course). http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xvgqu8_come-and-see-1985-pt-1_creation
I watched it to, it was fun. Also I enjoyed realistic recreation of some aspects like intimidating experience of being on a receiving end of MG 42 or AP grenades ricocheting of a Tiger and how experienced American soldier chose MP 44 as his small arm. Sharply in contrast though is humorous last fight where several hundred soldiers with lots of Panzerfausts fails to destroy a single immobile tank ) or natural decision of a Tiger commander to charge 5 Shermans and fight more mobile opponent in melee instead of picking them off from a distance.. Anyway these comic moments don't matter to much and movie is as I said fun and worth watching.
yes, the German accuracy with the 88 was quite awful. Then again maybe they were Volkssturm soldiers...
I thought it showed quite effectively the near bestiality of the Eastern peasant who joined the red army and participated in the invasion of Germany. Please don't take the word "bestiality" the wrong way. I mean only that they were illiterate and poor in a way we can hardly conceive of today. They lived in midieval squalor and knew no comforts. This is shown in the village at the film's begining. In his book "Armaggedon" Max Hastings interviews many of the Russian survivors of the war who describe their reaction when they entered Germany and saw the difference between even the most modest German peasant and themselves. For my part I am watching a french movie called "Diplomacy" about Cholitz's decision not to blow up Paris before the allies arrive in 1945. It just came out in Quebec on dvd.
Yes. It's a documentary interviewing the relatives of these Nazis. Here is the cast (from IMDb) Bettina Göring ... Herself (as Bettina Goering) Katrin Himmler ... Herself Monika Hertwig ... Herself (as Monika Goeth) Rainer Höß ... Himself (as Rainer Hoess) Eldad Beck ... Himself Niklas Frank ... Himself Yael Bedarshi ... Narrator (voice) Adi Piper ... Himself, Bettina Göring's husband Particularly moving is the documented visit of Rainer Hoess to Auschwitz and his encounter with a Jewish youth group and a holocaust survivor. I was deeply moved. -Rhad
I watched "Into The White" last night and I must say that it was a very enjoyable movie. Not much in the way of action and stunning CGI scenes, or cliff hanger after cliff hanger, but well made. At the end I found out that it was based on an actual incident that occurred during the Norwegian Campaign. Now we know how those movies that are "based on a true story" can be. Until I can dig up information on the incident the movie was based on I will mark this one down as one worth watching.
I believe I have seen that as well. If memory serves, weren't they hold up in a cabin and it became a battle of wits?

It appeared that the red headed Englishman was in the RAF while the pilot was in the Royal Marines. Even if the red head was Royal Navy, why would they be flying together?
By far one of my favorite shows ever is Criminal Minds. It is so fascinating how much they are able to find out about a criminal just by looking at their behavior. I also have watched some of the History Channel's Vietnam in HD which is also really good. I found a documentary titled "Hitler's GI Camps" which looks pretty good.
