Last night I cought this film on the History Channel. Seemed pretty good actually. It was made in 1973 and stars Alec Guiness in the title role. I thought it was pretty good, Guiness nailed the actions, movements etc of Hitler when he spoke. Went through (obviously) the last 10 days in the Bunker, showing the marriage between Hitler and Braun, as well as the discussions on how to kill themselves (we all know they eventually decided on cyanide). Pretty good casting throughout, the only problem is that the Germans all have British accents Anyone else seen this? Thoughts? DUCE
I've seen it and thought it rather good. Although I think Anthony Hopkins did a far better job as AH in The Bunker.
This is a good movie and--some of the Germans I spoke to when in Germany, speak English with a British or American accent.
I speak perfect English, and merely as a result of requirements in my work. It is not difficult, and quite similar phonetically. However, no accentuation is apparent, be it British or American. Of course, no proper film of the last days in April as been made. Perhaps in another 200 years. Distance makes perfect. [ 16. January 2004, 10:37 PM: Message edited by: NoName ]
I'd have to agree with you PzJgr....Hopkins (in my opinion) did a great job (one of the many reasons he's my favorite actor ) I'm not saying that it took away from the film by the Germans speeking English..but I do think it might have taken something away by them having a brittish accent.... DUCE
