If it is the same format and being created by the same people behind Band of Brothers that it will almost defiantly be amazing. It's been reported that it has 200,000,000$ budget. Historically sound, good minds, and all the resources it needs.

    I'm looking forward to it.

Look lie a good-un. The fact it's taking so long means (with Steve & Hank at the wheel) that it should be damn good.

I loved Band of Brothers, just the way the story was done, really getting to know these men and feeling as if you were there experiencing their struggle and pain. I am really looking forward to another installment. Thanks for the heads up!

I thought Band of Brothers was fantastic. If Pacific is done with the same intensity and accuracy, it should be outstanding.

Dick Winters lives about an hour and half from my home and Harry Welsh was from my hometown, so Band of Brothers has always had a special signifigance to me. Anxious to see Pacific.

    Thanks for the heads up!

I just finished "Helmet for My Pillow" by Robert Leckie, and read "With the Old Breed" by sledge a few months ago. Writing styles are different for both Marines. Leckie being a professional writer and all. Sledges book tends to be more graphic, while Leckie is a bit more poetic. I like to see how they tie the two stories together. The story of MOH winner John Basalone also gets thrown into the mix. Hopefully they do a good job adding his story into it.

A local shop refurbished some Higgins that were to be used in the show. They also have a T-34 mocked up as a Tiger that is to be overhauled. It has some Hollywood history to it, alledgedly used in S.P.R. or B.O.B., but i'm not positive. Someday i'll stop & take some pics & upload them.

Sounds awesome. The shooting (of the film) will be a bit far away from my home this time...

I have read both books, Leckie's is somewhat critical of the Marine Corps and he had a lot of trouble dealing with the officer class.

This promises to be very interesting

My understanding is that filming is completed, there are, like Band of Brothers no big name actors in the cast, the most well know is probably William Sadler playing Chesty Puller, All three main leads (playing Leckie, Sledge and Basilone) are relative unknowns.

Rather interestingly Leckie is a fairly famous author and historian, yet his book, which avoids using surnames and refers to everyone by nicknames such as "Chuckler" etc seems almost an anti-war book like Catch 22, without the humour and Sledges is very grim, yet Basilone's story is very heroic, should be interesting to see how they tie it all together into one narrative.
