Ok guys, where would I be wearing this zeltbahn? I know its Italian, but was this scheme used outside of Cassino et al? Also how was it folded and attached to the y-strap and how was it worn for battle (other than just mexican style) [ 26. January 2004, 02:06 PM: Message edited by: BratwurstDimSum ]
The zeltbahn can be worn in a myriad of ways. You will need two quick-release straps in order to hook it up in any configuration other than wearing it as a poncho. You can then wear it through the d-rings on your Y-straps up near your shoulderblades. Or, you can wear it strapped around your belt. Langemann
found a great (if not bloody obvious) site featuring zelts; This link goes to the italian camo section: http://www.zeltbahn.net/it_camo.htm
Some diagrams from the original German manual: http://www.zeltbahn.net/poncho.htm http://www.zeltbahn.net/float.htm http://www.zeltbahn.net/fold.htm The Zeltbahn is probably the most versatile piece of kit you can own, as the pictures above illustrate. It is also a useful waterproof when conditions in the field are a bit on the wet side (and this time of the year, when aren't they?).
