Got a poster request today at work for some 10th Mtn Division posters. One is a plaque for the Garrett Brothers from Julian - 3 brothers who all served, one of which was with the 10th Mtn Div. The other poster was about the 86th 'Remount' Regiment - they trained out here in these Mountains before being deployed to Italy, going into combat the day after they arrived on the Gothic Line. They were joined by the 85th and 87th Regiments a week or two later, putting the 10th at full division strength. At some point they fought in Kiska, Alaska (looks like just the 87th) before taking part in the Spring Offensive, suffering their war-high 1,300 or so casualties (286 killed // 3 captured // rest injured).
