Are there any members of the Forum here from Bobenthal, Germany,
just over the border from French Alsace?

Attached is a photo from the NARA.

    Caption reads:

"Two 45th Division infantrymen cover third infantryman cautiously
entering house in Bobenthal, Germany, in search of
enemy snipers. This is the first German town captured by troops
    of this division.

"Co. I, 3rd Bn, 180th Regt., 45th Div., Bobenthal, Germany."

    Date: 16 December 1944.

    III-SC 271429, Credit NARA.

I'm curious if the house still exists. Here is the location of
    Bobenthal:

Great photo, thanks for sharing. Love the perspective of where it was shot from hiding behind the wall.

    Cheers,

    Guys,

I received an email today from Holger Keller
in Germany. He reported that the haus in the photo
is indeed still standing, and he provided two photos
of it, including one from nearly the same angle as
    III-SC 271429.

I have asked Herr Keller for permission to share his
    photos.

In return, I sent him another Bobenthal photo I found,
    III-SC 333119. It, too, features I Company, 3rd Bn,
180th Infantry Regiment. I also emailed to him the
AAR of the 180th for December 1944.

    Dave:

Just found this site and this thread. My grandfather, Henry S. Jordan was I company commander during this time. Would like to hear what else you have about the 180th. Unfortunately my grandfather is no longer with us but I do have a scrapbook with information.
