1940 bomb?

    I've purchased a deactivated bomb from a local show. I'm curious of it's specific details. I've included pics and a drawing of interior stampings. It's stamped 1940 V.A.D 11 1/2LB. I wish to learn and pass knowledge on. Thanx:D

    It's a standard RAF 11 1/2lb practice bomb. It was used throughout the war for training in bomb-dropping. There is a thread somewhere on the forum about the 627 Squadron Monthly Bomb-Aiming Trophy which I restored for a UK museum ; the trophy was a converted practice bomb.

    Tank you very much. I had a hell of a time finding info by googleing it. With the broad arrow stamp I figured english or canadian. Happy addition to my collection. Thanx again

    it is a beautiful trophy you restored. thinking of making mine a lamp with out harming the lil devil of course. what sort of planes did the 627th use to drop their prizes with? i'm curios why i found one in canada.. p.s. i need to figure out how to salute properly

    627 Squadron flew Mosquitoes and, purely by coincidence, they operated mainly with the B.XX variant - which was built in Canada ! ;)
