Hello, I and a friend collect WW2 crests and we found this one from the 29th Infantry Division that we haven't seen before. On the back, it says "29 MP" but we can't figure it out since the 29th Division's MP Corps crests were yellow and green. Does anyone have any idea? Pictures below.
That looks like the DUI for the 29th ID, possibly one of the brigade HQ when it was a square division, although I cannot find it associated with either the 58th or 88th Infantry Brigades. I suspect it was probably worn by HQ troops, special troops, and the like. The MP platoon might have worn it at sometime prewar or during triangularization of division?
Can you elaborate on "triangularization of division" and "square division"? I don't understand what it means and couldn't really find it anywhere.
