Does anyone have any information concerning the 348th Service Squadron? The unit was assigned to the British Navy. It disembarked at the Suez Canal 2 Sept, 1942 and deployed to Rayak, Lebanon before turning west and following the British 8th across N Africa to Tunis.

I can't help you much with their time in North Africa, but in January '44, the 348th was assigned to the 15th AF, 449th BG at Grottaglie, Italy. There are a few paragraphs about the 348th in one of the 449th history books, I will get them scanned and post. The attached photos were from the 2nd Aniversary celebration of the 348th at Grottaglie, I don't know the date, but will try to find it. The photos are from the collection of one of the 449th's combat photographers.
