In 48 hours the liberation of the Iraqi people from their oppressors will begin. Let us pray for our men in uniform, and grant them a quick victory over the forces of evil. CvM
Agreed Finest Hour, I still think put a bullet in his head and call it over thoughh, not risk 300,000 lives.
This is indeed one of the more depressing moments of human civilization..... God bless the men and women who go to fight, and may God have mercy on their souls. DUCE
I hoped that Amercia could leave any country by itself. All the stupid reasons to go the war mentioned by Bush weren't correct. Sadam is a dictator, but Bush is the bully of the world.
What hurts me the most, is that the US don't even want to listen to the UN or to the weapon inspectors. Also the arrogancy of Bush is just too big. When he first became president, I thought he would be a good president. But know I have another opinion. In fact, the UN has the right to put sanctions on the US and Great-Brittain, because they are going to do something illegal.
Yesterday, a little known politician (little known outside the UK – probably?), Robin Cook, resigned his place in the British government of Phoney Blaire as Leader of the House of Commons. A minor position which Phoney gave him after he demoted him from Foreign Secretary some years ago. Why did he get demoted? Well ‘Rockin’ Robin’ was indiscreet with his secretary, his wife found out and divorced him. As Foreign Secretary he was good. Is he anti war or a timid born-again fairy? No, it was Rockin’ Robin who put British troops into Kosovo to fight ethnic cleansing. Apologists claim he’s just getting back at Phoney for having dumped him? Others say he’s a man of principal and won’t back a government who (a) would not put the matter to the House before deciding a war commitment, and (b) will make Britain go to war irrespective of UN approval. However, my point here is not to champion Rockin’s case, but to point out something he said in his resignation speech in the House. Remember, Rockin’ is not Foreign Secretary but he was a few years ago and during this administration. He is/was a Minister of this government. Do you think he would have access to ‘the files’? Yes, of course he would. In his speech yesterday, Rockin’ said of Sadman: Iraq probably has no weapons of mass destruction in the commonly understood sense of the term - namely a credible device capable of being delivered against a strategic city target. It probably still has biological toxins and battlefield chemical munitions, but it has had them since the 1980s when US companies sold Saddam anthrax agents and the then British Government approved chemical and munitions factories. Why is it now so urgent that we should take military action to disarm a military capacity that has been there for 20 years, and which we helped to create? Top of my wish list for this current episode is that the UN gets out of New York and restablishes itself in Luxemburg, with the US of A as a junior probationary member until such time as it shows it truly wants to be a MEMBER (yes just an ordinary member) and will behave like one. Secondly, Phoney gets the boot big time and Parliament resolves by constitution to never again make it possible for such ego maniacs to become Prime Ministers. Thirdly, the new PM, whoever they are, concentrates on making it up with Europe OF WHICH WE ARE PART AND WHERE OUR HOME FRONT FUTURE LAYS. Notwithstanding the British monarch is the head of the Commonwealth family which is fundamentally important to the 1/3 of the world it encompasses. However, the Commonwealth lives in India, or Canada or Australia or other parts of the world. Britain lives in Europe and these are our immediate neighbours. Fourth, stop wasting time and money on NATO and put it into the European Rapid Reaction Force, wherein lays the key to a formidable cost-effective defence. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2859431.stm No.9 [ 18. Here comes the lynch mob (except they are going to let the murderer leave the country without having to face any trial)... Best regards/ Daniel
It is rumoured here that Saddam Hussein will not receive a fair trial...and I ask what is fair for a man of that sort? He has committed atrocities since 1979, that dwarf even the large scale of hideous occurences in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Will he be caught?
I read in last Sunday's Telegraph that Saddam has instructed his military leaders to show 2 films to their troops:- black hawk down and Enemy at the gates to instruct them in ways to draw the Americans into urban fighting inside Baghdad, and then win....
May the GHOSTS OF VIETNAM not be felt in this conflict, and that world opinion woul;d be behind the brave troops who will surely fight to free this world from tyranny and oppression. May the people who protest, not show anger towards our soldiers, sailors and airmen-but towards the politicians who are the focal point of the decision to fight. My prayers are for all our servicemen and women, and for a swift, relatively bloodless war that will result in peace and prosperity everlasting...
Caught?! They are offering him to leave the country, what kind of signal is that when the President in the same time is saying that war criminals will face consequences? My prayers go to the civilians who are in the middle of this hell. God knows what will happen when the carpet bombings starts. Best regards/ Daniel [ 18. Daniel : From what I hear the US military wants to draw out the Saddam familie and thensomehow capture them. Though as Knight said if Saddam hands over power to one of his sons.... ? don't think it will matter this late in the hour You guys are right I am praying for our troops and even the Iraqui people who are going to feel the brunt of our forces. It has been reported by some that this ops will be called the Baghdad renewal project.....whatever that means. The mass of firepower that the US military machine has at it's disposal is unreal and if brought into the Baghadad suburbs......what suburbs, they will be flattened until there is nothing left
