I was performing some routine maintenance of these here Forums and I took a look at the statistics. I know we have been close for a while, but we just broke the 50 thousand post barrier! Thanks to all the members who helped contribute to this significant milestone. The friendly demeanor, knowledge and maturity of the membeship has made me proud to be a member here myself. I will try my best to improve these Forums so that every member new and old might continue to enjoy and contribute to the Forums. Special thanks to sapper (Brian Guy), Carl, Erich, Peppy, Crapgame, Ron, Stefan, Friedrich, Hartmann, Kai-Petri, Martin Bull, Panzerknacker, Stevin and many many others. I'll see you all at 100,000! That is pretty good Otto. Who was it that posted number 50,000 and what was the post? You should have a contest as to who posts number 100,000 and they win a Toyota or something!!
Oh NO, TA! That'll just invite more "sunday-posters" like that hasan dude! Let's choose quality over quantity! But here you go for the idea: (I could use a new car, but as we are talking 'axi's cars' here, I'd rather have a BMW...)
Wow! That´s alot of posting and Mr Carl Evans about 1/5 of it all... Anyway, congrats all the members of the Forums, and Otto et co especially! Could you have believed it when you started the Forums, Otto, by the way..?
Wow 50,000 posts. Great going everyone!! And I think a million dollars for the 100,000th post would be better. Greg
Thanks Otto--Kai As for me--the prize I wish to have is to see this forum become Nr 1 on the ENTIRE Internet. And why not? were already in the top 50.
Hmmm - a prize.... Must be WWII related and fun - how about a fully-restored Willys Jeep ? Of course a Spitfire would be much more fun but that may be beyond Otto's means; but then again, a Canadian guy just bought a MkIX from Duxford so....?
Well done guys, this is probably the best forum I have hung around on (and there have been a few, under a variety of names) and that is mainly due to the friendly and accepting environment. So many forums are daunting to look at because people seem so obcessed with their own superiority. None of that here and that is why we are going to make it waaay past 100,000. P.S. I reckon we should consider putting up a prize, maybe it is a topic for discussion by the mods? If Otto makes the number of posts so far restricted so that its fair?
I don't think that Otto can or wont to buy a Spitfire or jeep or give away a million dollars. Just to be serious.
Stefan--you hit the nail on the head in saying nobody feels or is obsessed with being superior here--unlike other sites that shall remain unnamed. The ONLY other Military History site that I can think of that I do not see the "old-timers" there as being or feeling superior to even the most recent member is Marcus Wendels site Third Reich Factbook--which I cannot access thanks to a blocking program on all the Libraries computers here in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Liked your joke. But really, ever since the library system installed a new block-program software--I have to get many many sites unblocked by writing the site info down and giving it to the head librarian and asking her to ask them to unblock the site. I've also had to do that with this site as well as many others. I did give them the site url for Marcus's site to be unblocked but--i'm still waiting to access it and yet cannot.
I am going to assume Carl like library PC's here in GP that any web-site with the word third Reich or a sign/pci of a swastika will be banned through their internet filter..... again time to put the pennies down for your own PC and then no more probs with librairan staff telling you to go home since it is after hours or wrestling the PC from another. save up bud ! ~E
am sure though that all libray computers upon your attendance have the same filter so...... ? doubt U could access. viele Glück ! ~E
Look, we all know that Otto is a Master of the Universe - if anyone can make it happen, he can ! Anyhow, I think I'll start taking flying lessons - just in case.... ( PS : I'm not being serious... )
No, the guy that made skalman.nu is swedish. In the startpage were it says "Information not shared is lost" you can choose swedish or english. And "Skalman" is a swedish cartoon in the old cartoon films about "Bamse".
