p.s.The counterweight at the rear of the turret looks heavy,anyone have any idea of the weight.?

 

Interesting question, Lee. I can't seem to find any info (or photos), but there was room for 11 90mm rounds within the counterweight so it was somewhat hollow.

 

Very interesting photo's ! I always feel sorry for the fellows who are on the pics but nobody can remember who they were. Thats life..

I have often thought about what potential is in the offing for Google's Image "search for similar photos" feature....

I did a google image search for "607th tank destroyer battalion" and yours showed up already!!!
===> even though yours are copy protected <===

I will have to mull this one over... hitting "similar" got me no where... at least as yet...
