On behalf of the family, I am looking for any information concerning Master Sergeant John W. Tangas, Army No. 36053158
John served in Tunesia, Sicily, Anzio and Nijmegen as member of the 504th. The citation for his Silverstar concerns Nijmegen, where he crossed the Waal river and got wounded on the north side of the river around 21st of September 1944. The children want to visit Nijmegen in 2026 and would like to retrace the footsteps of their father. Most important question, What was his Battalion and his Company, this would narrow down our search considerably. Any help is very much appreciated.

Bart, in case you did not see my reply to your same message at WW2Talk, I will repost it here. You may want to recheck your basic information. John William Tangas registered for the draft on 19 May 1945, the day turned 18 and was eligible to be drafted. He was born on 19 May 1927. Army Serial Number 36053158 belonged to Robert E. Nighswonger, who was drafted on 14 October 1941 in Peoria, Illinois. His final rank was T/5.
