A Bomb-line provided a bridge across the flooded airfield for this L.A.C. of the Mediterranean Allied Air Force on the 8th Army's front in Eastern Italy where, in February 1945, heavy rain and snowfalls transformed many of the forward fields into lakes. The M.A.A.F., it was reported on Feb. 13, were concentrating on one of Kesselring's few remaining oil-sources, the sugar-beet refineries in the Po Valley, known to have been converted to the production of industrial alcohol.
