I am hoping for some help in pointing me in the right direction for getting some information about my grandfather. He as part of the 337th Bomb Sq/96th Bomb Group. The only information I have is his active duty dates and his US Army hand bag tags with his information. Is there a master list of servicemen and what they did within the 96th at Snetterton-Heath? ANY information would be most helpful, Thanks, Mike

Try googling 337th bomb squadron. There are quite a few links, one in particular leading to the Air Museum in Britain.
If you can put up what you have there are many here who will do what we can to help.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

His enlistment record from NARA is here:NARA - AAD - Display Full Records - Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938 - 1946 (Enlistment Records)

Based on his active duty dates, rank and civil occupation as mechanic, he was most likely a member of the ground crew. The 96th Bomb Group Association has a website 96bg.org Geoff Ward is listed as the historian and his email is under "contact Information". I would suggest contacting him to see if any information is available. Good luck with your search.

Below is a picture of my Grandfather in uniform and a picture of 2 Ground Crew with a Flying Tiger. I do not know whether the person on the right is my Grandfather, it's really hard to see but I would like to think it is. Also, I do not know that picture is even taken at Snetterton?

Submit Form 180 to NARA to get service records.
    Military Personnel Records, SF-180

Be advised that many service records were lost in the 1973 fire. What you get may be incomplete.

Unfortunately, his records were burned in the fire of 1973 and Geoff Ward has not gotten back to me. I may never find out : (
