I remember having read something about a Soviet air force attempt to kill Hitler during one of his trip to the eastern front in 1942.

Before I dig in sources, do you folks have more info about this ?

That is a new one on me but I would love to read about it if you find something !

I recall reading of a first attempt to kill Hitler by someone who did not like him making a treaty with the Russians early in the war.

Doing a Yamamoto on Vinnitsa? The Glorious VVS?

(for those not in the know, VVS stands for Soviet Air Force +/-)

my understanding two attempts were made but the ideas ran out of steam, while Hitler was in Ost Preußia

It was a failure (otherwise I guess we'll recall this more precisely ;) ) I think the bomber arrived several hours too late, and East Prussia sounds most probable, Erich.

yes, and for the life of me I cannot remember Hitlers hide-out in Preußia...Wolf's lair ? anyone have the name ??

Also feel that Görings old Jäger lodge was to be suspect by the soviets as well and it was through the background that he was to be on a long hunting _ Moose weekend that he could be caught along with some of his boyz. There is an old book that was published from Germany some time ago on Fatty's place, and Fat man described himself as quite a hunter with many Elk heads over the top of his huge fireplace in his mighty place enjoying a little peace and quiet. I must admit whomever was the architect did a fantastic job of design of this building and the several associated with it on the big boys property.

did you guys know that many of the Elk in Ost Prussia had names given to them in the 20's, 30's and 40's ?

    Wolfsschanze it was, Erich. Wolfsschanze

Here is something about Hermann's taste in housing. Not the Reichsjägerhof I'm looking for but anyway not bad at all. He should have kept to his model train layouts while enjoying his wife's fortune, instead of what he did in the end!

    Der Bunker

There is a passing mention og the RJH here after all. Here is something more Rominten

I have some pics elsewhere in my dispersed library about his interiors, but my books are not available to me right now

I have read about the 1944 assassination attempt on Hitler by his own advisors but never of one by the VVS.

Interesting subject, I'll check out the local library and stuff. The Wolfschausse sounds like the place to do something like that too, Za.
