Of a Curtiss P-40B Warhawk, and it was my first model since 1956 in that scale……….and my last. But I wanted something that would not take up as much room as the 1:48 scale. Parts are just too hard to work with, at 77. I did use a tweezers and a toothpick however. Decals are top notch. Painted the olive drab with Testors spray paint. And AirFix does not include a stand with the kit for the landing gear in the up position and I didn’t feel like ordering a stand from the UK. The struts were paper thin and the fit into the bottom of the wings was ridiculous, if I had wanted to try it with the wheels down. Oh yes, and that panel behind the cockpit was “shot out”, by enemy aircraft. lol (really, it broke) 8438F52B-540D-4B79-8682-4845F36488D2.jpeg 33A676A6-1C25-4982-914C-1D83AB11751A.jpeg 1E9D9501-02A8-4188-91E1-6D77A68E5513.jpeg

One of my early models was a 1/72 P-40. I have fond memories of it, but it also taught me an important lesson - always support the wings when you glue them on. The left wing has a pronounced droop!

AirFix or Tamiya plastic kits are quality model kits, with Tamiya being the best kits on the market. Wings won’t droop. I updated this with a few changes, but would go with only 1/48 scale from now on. 472B57B1-7551-4B18-8DA1-B1A2F93662C9.jpeg
