    Same is true world over. Democracy is a sham. At least for Croatia, Austria-Hungary was literally the last good (or at least decent) government.

    Biggest change in combat soldier capability since the repeating rifle? The ability of the infantry to target an individual enemy soldier from a distance and drop a bomb into his foxhole while watching him die on a TV screen.

    Just yesterday, I heard an account of that happening. I'm sure it is not uncommon. My dad told me that he spared an enemy soldier by hitting a kneeling Italian who was sobbing "Mama Mia" with the butt of his rifle instead of shooting him. .
