Congratulations! And on your twenty years in the USN. I went in in ‘65 and out in ‘69. Arrived in Great Lakes boot camp about 1:00 in the morning, and up for breakfast around 5:00 am. A rather rude awakening, or so I thought at the time. Heavy breakfasts were not my thing. Guys would come out and throw up on the “grinder.” But after a few years I found that being a cook had it’s advantages. So that’s what I decided to strike for. I met some great guys and had mostly great times. I was discharged at the Philadelphia Navy Yard August 26, 1969. Should have stayed in the active reserves for another 16 years, but that’s another story.
