Today is the 49th anniversary of my first full day in the USN (as an active duty person).
Spent scrubbing the barracks head with a toothbrush?
Actually, I never got caught doing stupid shit. Emphasis on "got caught", of course.
OP, go do something to remember that day ! And plan something grand for the 50th .............Something nautical maybe?
Tomorrow is our 50th wedding anniversary and we laughed and agreed to have a quiet evening with the dogs !
Congratulations to the both you! You must do something special tomorrow Opana.
I did, I got out of the hospital early.
For my 50th I want to go naked tandem skydiving.
Relax, it will be done on a clear night with a full moon.
Two full moons...
Congratulations! And on your twenty years in the USN. I went in in ‘65 and out in ‘69. Arrived in Great Lakes boot camp about 1:00 in the morning, and up for breakfast around 5:00 am. A rather rude awakening, or so I thought at the time. Heavy breakfasts were not my thing. Guys would come out and throw up on the “grinder.” But after a few years I found that being a cook had it’s advantages. So that’s what I decided to strike for. I met some great guys and had mostly great times. I was discharged at the Philadelphia Navy Yard August 26, 1969. Should have stayed in the active reserves for another 16 years, but that’s another story.
