...a thread for those confused by 'football!'.
So, how 'bout them Jets?
Who are the Jets?!?! Oh, you mean the ones that lost to my Ravens!!!!
Jets, that's one of those teams made up of players too old to play college ball anymore, right?
They almost beat those Ravens, using a Quarterback who has never started a game before (and is a Rookie). If only the Jets receivers could catch when in the Endzone! For the record, I am a JETS fan.
J-E-T-S! JETS JETS JETS!
I'm thinking we'll have a good game against the FISH (Teal Towels, lol) again this year. I was lucky enough to attend the game last year in Giants Stadium - man, gotta love JETS fans making fun of Dolphin Fans ('Your towel is TEAL! You have TEAL towel! Who the hell has Teal Towel? Take your Teal towel home!')
Anyone playing Fantasy Football? I'm playing in an NFL.com League and a Yahoo! League. In both Leagues i've got the Vikings Defense, but in the one i've also got the Ravens Talk about good D's and match ups! The freaking Saints are killing me though...Reggie, Colston, and Brees! My one team has both Mannings though - not sure how i managed to pull that off...and Eli is my Backup to Brees too...should have started him these past 2 weeks.
Can not beat the Ravens Defense!!!
Go Bama beat the Dogs! This Saturday and I'm looking forward to it.
Jeff, I almost threw my remote at the tv during that 'Bama vs Arkansas game. Arkansas let
'bama march all the way down field with NO timeouts and score the winning touchdown!!
Arkansas choked almost as bad as the Chargers vs New England.
.....for a change. During Mr Shula's years at the helm, the Crimson Tide was 0-19 when behind in the 4th quarter. My eldest is 10 and she's never seen me get excited about an Alabama game 'til this past Saturday.
Are those the guys that are too young or just lack the skill to play pro?
They play the game for the noblest of reasons, ahem, for the love of the game only. <he says with a straight face>
Well in that case, "I better rush for 1200 yds. or my scholarship is out"
Not quite American football but I went to one CFL game in 1991, BC Lions v Calgary Stampeders in Vancouver.
Didn't have a bloody clue what was going on.
I was totally mystified.
Then you know how I feel about some of the games from your side of the world.
CFL is close enough to American football, if you learn one, you can figure out the rule differences in the other pretty easily.
Football, I enjoy watching and playing. Baseball, playing is great fun but a terrible bore to watch. My R knee doesn't like either game anymore, ever since a linebacker made it bend at an unnatural angle (to the side instead of backward) as I was making a cut just off the L tackle. Didn't do much ball carrying after that, except returning punts and kickoffs.
I used to follow the Washington Redskins years ago. When they won the Superbowl in '92 with Rypien as QB, I went down to see them play Montana's 49ers at Wembley in the Kodak American Bowl. 'frisco won by one point from a field goal in the last three seconds of the game.
Lost interest a while after that, but my 11 year old son constantly watches all my videos of Superbowls from 1990 onwards.
I despise the Redskins probably cause im a Ravens fan...........
Who?! Told you I was out of touch!
Not a real famous song, but one I have heard.
Saturday in Dixie
I’m from Alabama where football is king
There’s 4 million people, but only 2 teams
We all bleed crimson, ‘round here, that ain’t true
‘Cause some folks in Bama bleed orange and blue
In the shadow of Bear Bryant, Shug Jordan, and Pat Dye
Auburn’s got the Heismans, the Tide’s got all those banners flying
It’s the fans in Bryant Denny and down on The Plains
And once you’ve seen that you’ll never be the same
Saturday in Dixie, football is on
It’s Jim Fyffe and Eli Gold coming through your radio
It’s War Damn Eagle and Roll, Tide, Roll
And the only game that matters is the Iron Bowl
It’s Saturday in Dixie, football is on
It’s Namath and Musso, Pat Sullivan and Bo
Cornelius and Carnell and a thousand more heroes
It’s ole Van Tiffin and Damon Duval
When it comes September let’s play some ball
It’s the Auburn Tigers, the Crimson Tide
‘Round here you gotta choose your side
‘Cause it’s War Eagle, fly down the field
Ever to conquer, never to yield
It’s Rammer Jammer, Yellowhammer
Give ‘em hell, Alabama
‘Cause football is on
The Baltimore Ravens!!!! The Washington Redskins are only 40 minutes away, so its natural for the teams to be Rivals.....
I'm certainly no big fan, but I believe these boys are the heavy hitters of college ball right now...
The great thing about College Football is that anything can happen. Like last night, with Miami destroying 20th Ranked Texaz A & M. It wasnt a game like Michigan/Appalachian State that was a back-and-forth game. I think Miami held TAM to something like 50 Yds in the first half while putting up a 27 - 0 nothing lead.
