amno crate identification needed

    Who can help me to identify the following iron crate? It looks British or maybe American WW2 or possibly WWI.

    You are correct Martin, I had another confirmation via PM and can tell you this is the 1942 version for cal 50 M-17 rounds.

    This is an early war version . After the war it served as a tool box.

    I have passed by a lot of those!!!! Mostly filled with nuts and bolts or broken bits, Never gave them a second look, DOH!!!!!!

    Actually 8 Euros. It's the very first one I see here in France. I bought it blind , due to the olive drap inside and the web handlebar. Glad my instinct was right.
    I suppose they are more common in the U.S. but still harder to find than the late war versions
