    All,

I joined this forum a while back as I was in the process of interviewing Stan Nelson, a Marine Raider from Minnesota who participated in the invasions of Emirau, Guam and Okinawa. He was kind enough to allow me to interview him and share his photos. The piece includes info about training, making a cameo in the film Gung Ho from 1943 (about the Makin Island raid) and rubbing shoulders with Hollywood bigwigs at the Masqer's club (including Ronald Reagan), and of course recounting his combat service (and the weapons he used). If you are interested, the piece is here.

I figured the audience here might be interested. In any case, let me know what you think. Any errors in the piece, of course, are my own, not Stan's.

    All best, and take care,

    Brett Ortler

A great interview, Brett. There's a lot here, and it is interesting. It's nice that you were able to interview him. Thanks for the link.

Nice article, Brett. And thanks for posting the link to the MWCA issue in which Mr. Nelson is featured. Both are great reads.
