A big hay to everybody on this forum. I hope I'm welcome here. but I think that ain't a problem. [IMG]

some people wil allready know me others maybe not so that's why a short summary of my person.

I'm an 18 year old student who gained interrest in aviation and the world wars some few years ago. I always lived in Wevelgem in Belgium. whe"ve got an airfield here who played his part in both world wars. that's the main reason why I gained interest. I'm registered on a few dutch forums and made a little collection by my own further I'm more of a reader then a poster which you will notice.

my main interrest is ww1 but I wont to learn more about ww2.

euh for the rest I'm a sportive lad (playing basketbal, enjoying my MTB and running al lot and have quite good music taste (so they say) namely punk, rock, hard-rock and even metal. even the 'oldies' interrest me so you can find me regulary with music from the '70's in my chamber.

further I hope that my English is rather alright. I'm working on inprving it by making short story's in English. and that's another hobby from me.

well I hope you've got a better picture about the person behind this account.

    friendly greets arne(ken)

Welcome Arneken, we're glad to have you. Don't worry about your English ability. I am sure that you can speak and write English a heck of lot better than we can speak and write Dutch.

Der Panzerpenguin is the guardian of forum decorum. He main task is to keep people like Za Rodinu in line. That in itself is a full time job.

So, jump on in and have a good time.

Belgians are alright as counterbalance to Texans, Alabamians and Colonials in general.

Welcome aboard, the more (and the better) the merrier!

We have Brits, Dutch, Yanks of several flavours, Finns, French, Spaniards, Russians, Mock Russians, Phillipines, Turks, Argentines, NZers, Ozzies, Canadias, etc, etc. We could use a few more Germans, though.

    In short,

    Hello Arneken.
I was hoping to go to Belgium next week but as I've been on strike so much this year I can't afford it.
I see you are just down the road from Ieper.
I'm reading about the fighting around your town in May 1940.
Do you recognise this Memorial from Dadizeele?

indeed dadizele isn't far from my house. I don't really recognize it but it sure will look it up if I find the time for it.
1940 fighting? well I've got a book laying (gevechten rond wevelgem or in english battles around wevelgem) but I've still got to read it.

    so I'm interrested.
