Hi, recently picked up this helmet. Was told it was German WW2 but am pretty certain in isn't (or at least not one I recognize but I'm no expert). Anyone know where / when / what it is and from?

It could possibly be a lightweight-type nonmilitary police helmet.....

If it still has its original liner, then it should have three or four leather 'tags' hanging at the back. These were used to attach a leather neck guard which helped prevent any hot falling debris from landing on the wearers skin.

An inner crown pad should also be present. This was usually cushioned (filled) with horse hair.

This is from my collection. Unfortunately it has been repainted at some point.
