I've been trying to research equipment carried by Lovat's Commandoes at Sword Beach. The only question I have is what did Lord Lovat carry, in terms of weapons, that morning? I've read in different places: nothing but his .45 and a walking stick, a hunting rifle, a Holland & Holland shotgun, a Sten.
Does anyone know for certain what he was armed with?
I know he was wearing a cableknit sweater with his BD bottoms, but did he have on the full Patt 37 suspenders?
    Can anyone please help me?

    Hi Sedna1000 & welcome !

Interesting question - no time to research just now, I'll have a look later.

I've also read somewhere that he was carrying a Winchester !? ;)

I think Lord Lovat carried a shotgun, a winchester if I remember correctly.

    regards

    I thought it was either a .240 hunting rifle or a long-barrelled, double-barrelled shotgun.
    Hope This Helps...

How do you think I feel?
I've been searching for months, and I live about 4 blocks from the National D-Day Museum here in New Orleans.
I've become a little obsessed with finding out the answers.
Thanks for the help, keep it up!
