    A Dagger/fighting knife, but I can not tell you who made it or when.

    some very light cleaning may enhance it, but smoothly and some black shoe polish on the blade will protect it from further rust.
    No grease, it protects for a while but after a few decades it deteriorates the scabard and eventually the blade due to chimical reaction which is worse than rust.
