Hi All... Please note that my new book on the Japanese invasion of the NEI is now available for pre-order from McFarland & Company. As of now, it is currently scheduled for release in late 2015. http://www.amazon.com/Allied-Defense-Malay-Barrier-1941-1942/dp/1476662932/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1433909671&sr=8-2&keywords=tom+womack This 303,000 word text offers a comprehensive English language review of Dutch preparations to defend the Netherlands East Indies against Japanese invasion. It details their prewar planning, conversations with the Americans and British, counter-intelligence operations against Japanese spies and efforts to build their defenses prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. I have also provided a complete, in-depth overview of the NEI campaign itself. All facets of the campaign are covered, including an in-depth analysis of the Battle of the Java Sea. Most texts on the NEI campaign end following the Java Sea; however, my new text details a series of little known naval engagements between Dutch coast guard patrol boats in the Soenda Strait and the KM's motor torpedo boat squadron off the north coast of Java. And finally, I have provided the first-ever, and most comprehensive English language version of the Allied evacuation of Java. This includes the demolition and evacuation of the Soerabaja Naval Base, Tandjoeng Priok, Batavia and Tjilatjap. There is also a detailed overview of the failed Allied evacuation of Java from Tjilatjap. Although all Allied points of view are detailed, I have taken special attention to provide as much perspective as possible from the Dutch point of view. As a smaller power in the Pacific War, their full range of contributions have largely been overlooked in most, if not all, English language sources. There are approximately 80 photos (many from private collections and never seen before), 23 original maps and 31 charts. This is the culmination of 30 years of research and writing on my part. This project is a follow-up to my book, "The Dutch Naval Air Force Against Japan: The Defense of the Netherlands East Indies, 1941–1942" which McFarland & Company also published in 2006. I hope you will consider checking it out! Sincerely... Tom Womack
