I'm looking for information regarding reconnaissance flights over Auckland, New Zealand during WWII. According to sources, as many as six flights occurred during the early years (1940-1942), including a report of the Hobsonville airfield turning on approach lights to aid a Japanese pilot.

The flights were from one of the German raiders (Orion and Komet) and IJN submarines I-21 and I-25.

Did the pilots give verbal reports; or, did they take photos? Are any of the reports documented? If so, how do I get copies?

There is a record of an interview with one of the IJN pilots by students at one of the local high schools about a decade ago. Unfortunately, the interview is short on detail and the pilot has since returned to Japan.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
