Who knows anything about this sixth beach of Overlord? Why was it cancelled?

 never heard  Wasn't it just another trick of the Allies like pretending there was another army in England to deploy in Pas de Calais?

I've seen it appear in only one book, can't remember which, and it was noted as 'sixth beach for Overlord, canceled during planning'. That's all I know.

It was supposed to be east of Sword beach, therefore east of the Orne estuary; a tactical position. I wondered why it wasn't used, and why the 6th Airborne division was dropped instead.

Poor terrain for an amphibious landing, perhaps?

Poissibly there weren't enough landing craft. A problem that haunted all the Allies throughout the war.
