Hi, I have recently picked up a "set" of documents from a local book sale. I am not sure if they are real or not so i came here first thing. I can not provide pictures however i can give some details about them. First, they are in a little folder which is entitled "Battlefront The Battle Of Britaian." I will also type a few of the things these documents contain. "Dover and leaded for London, - a very small part penetrated the I.A.Z. All single seater fighter sqaudrons in the group were in action, as well as one aircraft of the defence flight at Northolt. Between 1715 and 1830 hours a "tip and run" raid on southhampton was made by 30/40 E/A No. 607 Squadron intercepted the enemy. An outstanding feature of the results shows that enemy bombers and fighters were destroyed in the ration 2 to 1." This specific document 1 of the 10 i have and the paper itself is entitled "RAF Summary Of Events." If you can identify ANY of this please put in comments.
They are copies of originals produced by the British Public Record Office published, I think in 2000.
Yes, they are facsimiles of original documents held at the Public Records Office in London. IIRC, another one in the same series dealt with the battle of Arnhem.
Thanks for the help guys =] Do you guys know if there are more documents like this but for diffrent battles?
It's quite hard to find information about these ; I think they may all now be out-of-print. They were issued in the late '90s/early '00s, and covered the Battle of Britain, D-Day, Operation Market Garden, the hunt for the Bismarck, the first day on the Somme, Passchendaele and Waterloo. I do remember that, as well as being educational, the purpose of them was to help preserve some of the most-requested and copied documents at the PRO.
You could try their bookshop Bookshop | Second World War Public Record Office now known as the National Archives
