That is the "Les Braves" monument France commissioned for the 60th anniversary. http://www.normandy1944.org.uk/les_braves.htm
I did do a quick picture search, etc....thanks...with your information, I zeroed in on it...I just can't 'understand' it, sort of.......
The Wings of Hope So that the spirit which carried these men on 6th June 1944, continues to inspire us, reminding us that together it is always possible to change the future. Rise of Freedom So that the example of those who rose up against barbarity, helps us remain standing strong against all forms on inhumanity. The Wings of Fraternity So that the surge of brotherhood always reminds of our responsibility towards others as well as ourselves. Does that make it easier to understand.
It is a nice site. On the 101st stuff, they are a bit guilty of the BoB effect (506), with no mention that the 327 actually moved into and secured Carentan and fought an equal battle as Cole just a few KMs from there at the same time. But, it is a good page.
